Faerie Festival: Join us to Explore the Magic of Nature at the Eddy Discovery Center (17030 Bush Rd, Chelsea) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Garden Mill is sponsoring a Faerie Garden Display contest for the event. Enter your creation in one of three categories:

House – Build your own faerie house, using whatever materials you like. Make it big or small, short or tall, fancy or simple, but use your imagination to make the best faerie house around. Be sure to include furnishings to entice a faerie to come live in your home! And don’t forget to add some landscaping around your house.
Landscaping – Create a garden for your faerie friends. Use a planter, a box, an old washtub or any sort of container to make the perfect faerie garden. Your garden should include both plants and “hardscape” (pathways, patios, furniture, etc.).
Event or Scene – Construct a scene or event (a picnic, party, day at the beach, etc.) for faeries to enjoy. Remember that you want to encourage faeries to come join the fun at your event, so add lots of detail to your display to make it the place every faerie wants to be.

Bring your creation to the Faerie Festival, where it will be displayed among the boulders of the rock walkway outside the center. Keep in mind that because it will be outside, and on the ground, your display could be subject to weather.

Faerie Festival participants will be given the opportunity to vote for their favorite displays, and to vote for the best overall. The winners in each category will win a gift certificate from The Garden Mill. Voting will take place from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and the winners will be announced after all votes are tallied. Winners will be contacted by phone or email by Sunday. Displays can be picked up after voting closes Saturday until 5:00 pm, or Sunday, from Noon to 5:00 pm.
