I’ve been thinking, and having a number of conversations with others lately, about the somewhat odd weather we had this year, and how it affected our gardens. We started out the spring with seemingly nonstop rain, which brought many problems for gardens. Then, the rain seemed to just totally stop for a long time. It was cold well into the spring, and now it’s much warmer than it should be this late in the fall! It makes it hard to decide when to do tasks in the garden. Normally, I would have planted my garlic by early to mid-October, but not this year. I still don’t want to plant it yet, because I’m afraid that it will be too warm for a while yet, and it will start growing yet this season. I’m not sure if I should be hoping for it to cool off enough for me to feel comfortable planting the garlic soon, though! I’m not really in any hurry for winter!!
